Our first challenge is inspired by summer!

533883_512125332199714_734081370_nI chose to put together a Project Life layout from week 28:  June 8th through June 14th.

PL wk 28 full layoutI used a lot of Carta Bella’s line Hello Again designed by Kaitlyn Shaeffer of Ormolu. This was the first time I’ve worked with anything from Carta Bella, and I must say, I am very impressed at the quality and the weight. It is reminiscent of the old Wild Asparagus paper, before they turned into My Mind’s Eye.

This is the left page:

PL wk 28 full leftMy hubby and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary on July 8th. We didn’t do anything special with just as this year, so I don’t have any photos like that, so I just added a little note to the title card.

The glittery Thickers are Dear Lizzy’s Lucky Charm in Poppy. These are my favorite Thickers right now. The chunkiness of the glitter is perfect for someone like me.

PL wk 28 left detail 2On our anniversary we took a family trip to a nearby lake. I’m so thankful that we live so close to so many family friendly places! Those are my kids playing in the lake. We all had such a good time that day.

The chipboard anchor was taken from Dear Lizzy’s Lucky Charm Trinket Thickers. Those are so awesome! I’ve almost used up the whole sheet! The ‘2’ is from Crate Paper’s The Pier Ephemera Pack. The ‘Summer Fun’ tag came from a Studio Calico printable that is no longer available and those awesome enamel dots are by My Mind’s Eye.

PL wk 28 left detail 1This is my sweet boy in the candy store. I really like this photo. You’ll probably see it again in an upcoming project.

More of the Dear Lizzy, Crate Paper, and Carta Bella used here.

PL wk 28 left detail 6Me and my hubby’s beard — he’s getting a few white hairs in his beard. He either didn’t believe me or wouldn’t admit it, so I had to get photographic evidence.

I love antique typewriters so I made sure to use that as the background paper behind my photo. And that five star rating cut out? Perfect! This collection is so awesome! Also used more of The Pier and Dear Lizzy here.

PL wk 28 left detail 3This card is an explanation of the unusual photos of my boy on the right page.

PL wk 28 left detail 4Moving onto the right page:

PL wk 28 full rightI am not entirely happy with the four 3×4 photos in the middle. I like the photos — they are so great at showing the personality of my boy. I just don’t like how they look here in the layout. I’m trying not to stress too much over it. I’m trying to just be happy with the fact that I have another week of PL in the books!

PL wk 28 right detail 7My girl out on the boat that we rented. I love that chevron paper! So pretty! More Dear Lizzy here. I also used some Fancy Pants Trendsetter. These three collections go so well together! Love the color combo!

PL wk 28 right detail 5My boy is a fish. He can’t even keep himself out of the water on the boat; he had to dip his feet in. I use those Studio Calico wood veneers on all my projects these days. Love them.

PL wk 28 right detail 1And eventually he had to just jump in while we towed him around the lake. He loved it!

layout | wild thing, I think I love you

It’s been a long while since I created a traditional 12 x 12 scrapbook layout. I’ve been trying to keep up with Project Life and traditional scrapbooking has gone to the wayside.

Wild Thing by Kimmie Rishebarger A

This shot of my daughter and her favorite horse, Sunny, came quite by accident one afternoon. Sunny is quite young still and she doesn’t like to listen sometimes. On this day, I was sitting next to the arena and Sunny wanted to come see what I was doing; I was able to catch this great shot. It’s totally them and is one of my all time favorites.

I printed the photo out at 8 x 10, which is the largest photo I’ve ever scrapped!

When Elizabeth Kartchner came out with the Lucky Charm line earlier this year, I knew I had to have it. How could I not when it’s so perfect for my daughter and her most loved passion?

I titled the layout Wild Thing I Think I Love You. One of the stickers from the Lucky Charm collection has the quote and I thought it so fitting for this layout, especially since Sunny is such a wild little thing. And her rider is a little crazy, too!

I used some older October Afternoon patterned papers that I had on hand and my favorite go-to Bazzill color, vanilla. I believe the Lucky Day flair is also from October Afternoon. It came off of its card and was all alone in a box full of stick pins, but I think it belonged to an October Afternoon collection.

And, of course, I couldn’t go without adding some wood veneer. Love that stuff!

My hopes are that I can keep finding time to create more traditional layouts. I sure did miss it and I certainly need some “practice”.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog and have a wonderful day!

2013 project life calendar freebie

Nearly nine months have gone by since I’ve checked in here. I’m still alive!

It’s hard to believe 2013 is already here and 2012 is gone. There were some tough times and some good times last year. We got through it, though, and here we are.

Project Life by Becky Higgins is a fabulous product that I plan on continuing to work with in 2013. I completed my title page and am working on week one as I write this. I hope to show you my title page later this week, but right now I want to share with you something that I have created for use with Project Life.

There is at least one free download of 2013 monthly calendar cards out there on the ‘net, but unfortunately for me it began on Sunday. My Project Life weeks go from Monday through Sunday and my OCD just won’t allow me to use calendar cards in my PL pages that don’t correspond with my weeks. So I made my own and I’d like to share them with you today.

I made two sets, one gray and one brown – both wood grain.  Only the first four months of the year are included in this download. I will post the remaining cards as those months come up. You are welcome to use them in your personal projects, but please do not sell them or take credit for them. I would love it if you Pinned them or shared them on your blog, but please link back to me. Thanks so much!

small wonder

Here is another layout that I recently found when I was unpacking.  I had nearly forgotten about it!

This photo of my daughter, now age 13, was taken about 12 years ago.  I think this layout is one of my favorites — I love those pinwheels!

All of the patterned paper on this layout is Bella Blvd.  The alphas are as well.

The tape (directly underneath the photo) is an older product by Pink Paislee.  Still love that stuff!  I pleated it and stitched right through it.

The buttons are from my stash — I have a huge stash of buttons.  The doily is just a plain ol’ doily that I bought in the baking aisle of a craft store.

I made the banner by cutting teeny little triangles out of Bazzill cardstock

Don’t you just love those little pinwheels?  And they are so easy to make!  I’ll probably be making more of those in the very near future.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope to see you again next time.

my girl

Last week I put together a layout for the first time since moving into our new home.  It felt so good.  I didn’t use my paper trimmer for the challenge over at Noel Mignon.  And I used the sketch over at Elle’s Studio.

*Edited to add:  I’m sorry that the photos look blurry and/or pixilated.  I understand that blogger is having some issues with this lately.  The photos look fine on my computer (before uploading to blogger). I’ll see what I can do to fix this. Thank you!

October Afternoon‘s Sidewalk collection is one of my most favorite recent collections and it was so fun to finally use it in a layout!  I’ve been using it exclusively in my Project Life pages, but this is different because I can use the bulky items — which I love!

Loving the My Mind’s Eye Wood Banners!  I can imagine using these in all of my projects.

I used some Elle’s Studio tags and I really need to replenish my supply!  Their tags are so fab!

For the title, I used Pink Paislee‘s Wood Shop in Timber and Making Memories Mini Shimmer Alphas.

beautiful

This is the first of my newly found layouts to share with you.

{I mentioned previously that I had found some layouts that were kind of forgotten until I unpacked my scrapbooks in our new home.}

This photo of my daughter was taken 5-6 years ago and I finally got around to using it.  It was a favorite of mine and I actually had it printed right after I shot it, just never scrapbooked it.  ((shame shame))

I love that Martha Stewart butterfly punch!  I probably use that one more than any of my other punches and it never gets old.

All of the patterned papers in the project are of Bella Blvd‘s Socialite, Lovey Dovey, and Hello Beautiful lines.  The letter stickers are from that line, as well

Other embellishments include:
Martha Stewart Doilies
Distress Stickles – Worn Lipstick
Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter – Turquoise
K & Co.  pillow stickers
Prima flower
Maya Road Leaf Trinket Pin
Martha Stewart border punches – double scallop and doily lace

Bazzill cardstock

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon!  ((wave))
